Our Chairperson introduced the new Consul General and his wife and also our demonstrator Sensei
Dr Pushkala and thus began the meeting. The theme for her demonstration was " Significance of lines in Ikebana".

For her first arrangement,Sensei Pushkala had used a ceramic nagiere vase and used abstract material like aluminium and copper wires to show Horizontal lines, circles, slanting line and a drooping line. The ixora flower and white celosia were the fresh material in the arrangement.

      .

The second arrangement of Sensei Pushkala was to emphasise slanting lines.

             .

She had used a refrigerator condenser  and gerberas to show lines.

The third arrangement of Sensei Pushkala was an elegant one using spinifix grass and ixora in a ceramic container.

The fourth arrangement was a  scientific explanation of  "Energy is neither created nor destroyed",using discarded soft wooden boxes, red coloured stone chips and fresh and drooping sunflowers .

                                               .

Sunflower seeds sprout in the soil and trap sun's energy to create seeds to store energy. The adult plant withers and decays. The seeds repeat this cycle. Sunflowers display heliotropism which is tilting towards the sun.
